Waivers
Georgia Waivers
Georgia offers several Medicaid waiver programs designed to support individuals in receiving care within their homes or communities, thereby reducing the need for institutionalization. Below is an overview of each program:
Structured Family Caregiving (SFC):
The SFC program provides financial assistance to family caregivers who live with and care for an elderly or disabled relative requiring significant help with daily activities. This initiative aims to compensate family members (excluding spouses and legal guardians) for their caregiving efforts, promoting in-home care over institutional settings.
Community Care Services Program (CCSP):
CCSP offers community-based social, health, and support services to Medicaid-eligible individuals who are elderly or have disabilities. The program serves as an alternative to nursing home placement, providing services such as adult day health, alternative living services, emergency response, home-delivered meals, and personal support services.
Independent Care Waiver Program (ICWP):
ICWP assists adult Medicaid members aged 21 to 64 with severe physical disabilities or traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in living independently. The program offers services including personal support, home health services, specialized medical equipment, counseling, emergency response systems, and home modifications, enabling participants to reside in their own homes or communities instead of institutional settings.
Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE):
SOURCE integrates primary medical care with supportive services for Medicaid beneficiaries who are elderly or have disabilities. The program aims to prevent unnecessary hospital and nursing home admissions by providing coordinated care, including case management, personal support, home-delivered meals, and skilled nursing services.
